BRILLIANT NEW CYCLE PARK for FARINGDON - A hit with children and adults alike!’
Folly Sports Park
Opened July 2019
Spearheaded by Lyn and David Williamson, Sjoerd Vogt and Gavin Hopkins, this Farcycles led initiative has created cycle training facility at the Folly Sports Park.
Their vision is that every child and every adult in Faringdon has the opportunity to learn to cycle safely. The park is designed as a mini village with a road layout mirroring Faringdon, including junctions pedestrian crossings and a roundabout. Fun landscaping features include models of iconic local landmarks such as the Folly Tower, All Saints Church, Old Town Hall and a miniature White Horse Hill.
Cycle training will initially focus on 3 main groups :
1 complete beginners children and adults
2 beginner/ intermediates - who want to progress onto just two wheels and learn road safely
3 for partially sighted people and those with mild physical disabilities.
Summer cycle training classes are planned.
Many families are already enjoying the use of the cycle park which is a free facility for local people.
Creating the park has been fun, and has brought the best out in people.
