The Manor House is a fine example of a very early unfortified Manor House, built to house the Harcourt family and its retainers. The family still live and work here.

Visit the Great or Old Kitchen, with its conical roof, the Pope’s tower and the Chapel.

The gardens, set round the house in a formal style, give the feeling of a Courtyard. The woodland areas contain the remains of the moat and the stew ponds in which fish were reared.
