1 SSSI Coxwell Pit Site
The developer EDE has offered to give land comprising the SSSI to the town, together with £20k to fence and landscape the area.
Also £35k has been offered for use by local schools.
All this is subject to getting planning permission for the housing development.
The Town Council agreed to take ownership of the land.
Management arrangements will be needed. There were differing views as to whether a Trust, or a TC Committee would be best.

2 Police Report- from Jane (the Sergeant)
There are now more police officers in Faringdon than there has been for a considerable time. This, and the reduced staff turnover is improving the situation.
There was less recorded crime between 4/01 and 1/02 and there have been more detections (35.6% in Faringdon. Target is 26%)
Theft from sheds is high
Violent crime has increased (detection rate 96%)
More strategies to deal with anti social behaviour have been put in place

3 Oxford CC Report - Judy Heathcoat.
A written report was provided, which listed the many meetings that are attended and:-
- stated that the County Council has signed a contract for a super broadband network for the County - in rural and urban areas. The first step will be to connect the schools and libraries.
- mentions a new County Council website- to be launched later this month.
- states that the County Council and the Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) have decided to take a 'long hard look' at road signs and their proliferation. There will be a trial look in Adderbury, Banbury.

4 Vale DC Report- Alison Thompson
A written report was provided, which listed the many meetings that are attended and:-
- her support for the lottery grant application by Faringdon Bowling Club
- comments about the Rural Hub meeting and the Western Area Committee meeting

5 TC Chairman's Report - Dee England
A written report was provided, which listed the functions that are attended and:-
- made mention of the Councillor Code of Contact, soon to be signed by all councillors
- Campaign to recruit new councillors

6 Cycle of Meetings
A schedule for 2002/03 was circulated. This included the Annual Town Meeting 29/4 2002, 7.30pm, Corn Exchange

7 Faringdon Community Centre
Progress reports from the working party were provided. £8500 (so far) will be spent on the removal of asbestos- once the tenant has moved.
Members of the public were asked to leave prior to the discussion of Agenda items:-
a) the removal of the tenant for 2nd floor flat
b) to defend the Section 146 notice that may be served by Faringdon Collection Trust (the owner of the property)

Funding of the costs of repairs and refurbishment will be pursued. It seems that it is hoped that grants will be available, but in case they are not an application to apply for a Public Works Loan of £150k is soon to be made. The other funding source is through the precept(Council Tax).
No mention was made of a Business plan or the expected income and expenditure in the future

8 Care of Faringdon
This working group was set up to start in May last year. It's intention is to improve the cleanliness of Faringdon. It has yet to meet. It appeared from the way this was discussed, that this is not considered an important area of work.
Councillor Hickmore, I think is now the only member. He will be organising the Spring Clean (12/4/02 - 21/4/02) through VWHDC.
