| Faringdon Town Council Message from Faringdon Mayor, Dee England |
| Hi' I have been elected as your Town Mayor and feel very
proud to take up this position. I will endeavour to be a good ambassador and a voice for the people of Faringdon. It is the norm to write a little about ones self first but I will leave that to last. During my office I wish to build communications between organisations and the people, but I can only do that if you the public do Your Bit and that is make yourselves aware of where you can get information, for example Notice Boards and attend meetings that are for your interest. The Faringdon Association of Residents meetings are for YOU, every resident in Faringdon is a member, this association deals with all you want to know and is somewhere you can air your views. Meetings are published on the Corn Exchange Notice Boards and many other sources. Seek out the council offices where you will be greeted by town clerks who will help. The Faringdon website, www.faringdon.org is excellent for information, and you will see you have the chance to have your say. I married John in 1973 and our son Steve was born in 1975.My working life until now has very much been leisure orientated - teaching, coaching and managing are all aspects I have enjoyed. The three of us have had international careers in our chosen sports and have travelled extensively representing our country. John and I were given awards in the 1986 New Years Honours' list for our individual success. Steve has a career in special needs teaching and in his spare time is a professional coach for skating; he currently is coaching the 2 top boys and girls in the country and is a Fitness coach to the Great Britain squad. He is engaged to Sam who is a manager for Faith. She is also an international athlete. Finally I am committed to the people of Faringdon and am looking forward to meeting many of you over the next year. Dee England June 2001 Mayors Address |
