| Wantage Air Cadets is part of a national
organisation called the Air Training Corps - or ATC. The ATC is sponsored and supported by the Royal Air Force 1861 (Wantage) Squadron was formed in late December 1941 and been providing ;the youth of Wantage and Faringdon towns and the local villages with aviation activity, adventure and fun. Want a challenge and want to use and develop your leadership skills - and get real qualifications into the bargain - then read on. As a cadet in the Air Training Corps (ATC), you can fly in civilian or military aircraft, take part in aerobatics, learn to fly a glider or go on a UK or overseas camp. Then there's shooting, parachuting, caving, climbing, hill walking and trekking, aeromodelling, sports, amateur radio, parades, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and the chance to train as a musician and join a cadet band. There's a lot to choose from. It's up to you to find the activities you enjoy. But the more you put in to the Air Cadets, the more you'll get out of it. With regular weekends away as well as annual camps at RAF stations at Easter, Summer and in the Autumn, the Air Cadets provides children between the age of 13 and 18 with opportunities. Want to be the best then come and meet us! The Squadron meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 7.30 pm and 9.45pm. Cadet membership is open to all EU nationals both male and female between 13 and 17 years of age. The upper age limit is generally eighteen, although some cadets are able to extend their time with us to their 20th birthday. |
