Tom Brown's School museum The museum is housed in The Old Schoolroom which was built in 1617 for Thomas Saunders, a merchant who lived in Woolstone. The school, together with an endowment in his will, was intended to provide education for poor boys of Uffington and Woolstone. This building was the school to which author, Thomas Hughes, refers in the opening chapters of Tom Brown's School days.
