U3A: University of the Third
Age
- After the ‘first age’ of
childhood and education, and the ‘second age’ of work and raising a
family, there comes the ‘third age’ of retirement.
- The main purpose of U3As across the UK is
to encourage lifelong learning.
- University is used in its original sense
of a group of people coming together to learn.
- U3A is a lively association, open to
anyone but primarily those over 50 who are not in full-time employment.
Faringdon U3A serves Faringdon and
district
It offers a programme of
educational and leisure activities for retired people.
It is part of a
worldwide movement.
The main aim is to advance the education of retired
people and assist them in pursuing their interests within a social
environment.
There is an active social programme and a regular newsletter.
No exams, but enjoy working, playing and learning together
